The older 2.3s actually are the exact same engine as the 2.5, just with a shorter stroke. The newer 2.3s (2001+) are entirely different and will not be a bolt-in replacement. They have a different bell housing bolt pattern, among other differences. Any V6 engine will also have a different bellhousing pattern.
