Plus with a used one who knows how abused it already is. A rebuild with good & extra clutches will result in 600-700 crank hp. Some more easy mods and you can build them to hold well over 1000hp.

First is how much can the LLY engine put out without the listed problems. The answer depends on how long. Without engine work, the stock LLY can put out ~500rwhp. How long at that level before you have problems? I think the jury is still out. There are guys that have been doing it for 80K miles or more without engine problems.

True a stock 700 or 4l60 can handle 400-450 and @400 at the track. There's pro/cons to both.
