This is a show and tell of just that, with some terrible hand drawn...Surprizingly enuff, the original 3-terminal 6-volt solenoid is plenty strong to use on 12-volts. I strongly recommed using the 3-terminal 6-volt solenoid on yer 12-volt conversion. Remember, the 1-wire 12-volt alternator needs to be jazzed to about 1800rpms before the internal voltage regulator kicks in. Once in, it will charge at 500rpms.Panel lights can be bought that snap into a 1/2" hole in the dash. As you can see from the diagrams, the best (simplest) conversions are to use a 12 volt generator and regulator or use a 1-wire alternator. My diagrams for the 3 wire alternator show a connection for the alternator "voltage sense" No.2 terminal.
The 6v coil will work but you need to add a 12v to 6v resistor in the wire to the coil. Since you are changing over to 12v for better cranking and a more reliable spark at the plugs I think it is best to replace your old coil with a new 12v coil.
