How much HP can a stock rearend handle. My 327 is putting out about 350 HP. Running a Tremec 5 speed with 3.73 stock posi. In my younger days I would break axles not the rearend in my 63 Impala with same amount of HP but I had an automatic in the car. I know of the aftermarket posi units but does anyone make aftermarket axles for our trifives?There is absolutely no way that an Allison will fit in my truck, so I was wondering if the 4L80 can be built to handle a Duramax and if so what would I need to do with it. But in the end, it really comes down to the fact that the NV4500 cannot handle much extra power in any gears other than 4th (direct) as the case and countershaft bearings just cannot hold up to the added stress.
