Started shotshell reloading recently. Using MEC 600 Jr in 12 ga. started with Red Dot and im getting inconsistent powder charges. If I trust without checking I get random light loads that won't cycle the 2 SA shotguns I'm testing with. When I catch them I have a powder trickle dispenser nearby and make the adjustment. Wipe the dirt off and oil the parts that move with the exception of the charge bar and the hinge where the top folds back. They do not need any lubrication. The charge bar needs to be clean and if you lube it at all, a little graphite or silicon spray will do the trick. The rubber deteriorates and shot digs into the grommet and gets caught between the bar and the loader head.

I load 12, 16 and 20 ga. on MEC 600 Jr. Mk5 machines. Probably in excess of 40K shells on the 12 ga. I've never experienced the malfunction you describe. Sounds like it was not properly tightened at the factory. I believe I would try Thread-Lock or some other alternative to drilling/tapping for a #2 screw. Bruce.Adjusting Mec 600 jr.
