The weapon is slow, and trying to dance around the monster is not going to happen. Gunlance requires you to stand your ground and eat the hits by blocking. It has the second best shield in the game iirc, so you can block most hits, including all of nergigante's attacks.

My idea is a move that while you are in the air plant the glaive in the ground that makes you stand on top of the weapon. is basically a stance that let you stand on the glaive like the legendary wukong monkey king and giving you the chance to recover stamina faster after the air attack.
