It's a fun build that works when you're better than your elo, but not on serious competition i think. No pro ever builds or even tries Riftmaker also. I've seen some pros go Crown, seraphs, Rylais. Should be a decent build against assasins.
Pushing sides, and than forcing a teamfight where your team gets the champion advantage (since someone has to answer your side push) is probably the most consistent, though that requires all 5 members of your team. I don't think they means completing seraphs. I think they instead buy the comps for raw stats and then complete ROA. Calatyst still being the rush and then going for Rod and kindle. I don't agree with it just thought I would try and clear that up. E-W-Q. Usually an escape combo. stuns with an empowered W and some free damage from your Q, as well as giving you your shield and ms to escape. E-E-Q. Usually a poke combo used to spread flux to lane opponent and hit them with an empowered Q. Very useful because you can just Q the wave and it will hit your opponent.
At level 15 with a FON/Deadmans and a cosmic drive, Ryze can break that 385 movespeed threshhold without having boots. Ryze ult can be used to gank, shove, tower dive or back door, with your ally. So, it is very problematic and I do think it should be gutted for something else that is easier to balance. I one tricked ryze top, but with the minion aggro update its actually just too hard in some matchups now. I'm having a hard time finding ryze viable at all right now, but he is specifically worse after that aggro update. Like many have said, this is actually more manageable top lane.
