It will remove the excess cuticle from the nail plate (which can stop nail polish from adhering properly), and also clean up the edges of cuticle around your eponychium. I want to like Essie polish. I really do. However, either I'm doing something wrong or Essie is the worst quality polish I have ever used. It goes on thin and streaky, brushstrokes are visible no matter what I do, and it chips off within 24 hours. I've tried Essie top coat, my normal top coat, and no top coat. The results are terrible any way.
