The 2D combat is impressive, with the character attacking with broad slices and thrusts of melee weapons, rather than the stabby button-bashing of Zelda 2. The environments are also more diverse and present a more robust range of challenges.

It reminds me of the Majora forms at the end of MM. Same sort of creepy-crazy music and mobility. The sludge it spews everywhere summons those massive Gyorg-like sharks, too. Clearing a path with Sidon's water-shield projectile looks satisfying.It looks like it'll follow a similar path of a couple story beats around the major objectives, Zelda being cordoned off to the "helping in the background somehow" dimension, and most of the rest of the game is the sandbox. I've always been looking forward to playing it, but "hyped" remains an overstatement.About the DS ones: Phantom Hourglass is a dumbed down Wind Waker, while Spirit Tracks is good original fun with some amazing dungeons, bosses and lovable story/characters. They aren't bad games, but people dislike them because of the overworlds (which are bad, but I don't care too much about this personally).
