In regards to front sight on a 30A (S), going to a 3/8 wide dovetail is a perfect fit to the barrel compared to the too wide 1/2" dovetail stock one.

I have a glenfield 30A that was sold thru Otasco (Oklahoma Tire & Supply Stores) as a limited edition gun,marked Marlin 3080.I like the gun and besides the stock,appears the same as my sons 336.I contacted Marlin and this gun was made in 1980 (no cross bolt safety). Some will keep 3 shots into 1", or very close to it, at 100 yards. Some will just barely keep 3 shots in 3".
