The Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park south rim is accessed just east of Montrose (my personal fave) and the north rim is accessed near Crawford, CO off the CO92 detour. The problem arises if you were planning to travel west on Highway 50 from Gunnison (the town) to Montrose, or east from Montrose to Gunnison (the town).
