Yesterday it was trying to close and then stopped, so I kept trying to move the door padding to see if it was the pinch sensor. After trying for a while, the door wouldn't move AT ALL from the wide-open position.

There is a cable running from the inner door handle to the latch. There is a possibility that the cable became disconnected. Pry out the cover inside the handle and remove the screws. Pull out the handle and see if its still attached to the handle. If it is, the other end of it could be disconnected, or the latch is bad.If that does happen, you can 'get around' it by holding the door handle 'open' while pulling on the door.
