Jul 23, 2021 · I count that a win, especially in a little drama special. 2. Show has a few surprises up its sleeve. Given how staid Show’s first half felt, I welcomed some of the more surprising writing decisions in Show’s final stretch. 3. There are some nice themes in here, ..about identity, self-esteem, love and honesty. 4. 2. Show toggles two timelines through its entire run. This can feel a little disorientating at first, but hang in there, because it only takes about an episode or so, to find your bearings with the set of characters peopling the two timelines. 3. Show’s got an earthy, muted look and feel about it.The pain is treated with a very reflective sort of vibe; everything feels measured, thoughtful and introspective. Beyond the initial shock and rage at the affair, characters go through a wider scope of emotion. There’s guilt, blame, hurt, grief, disbelief, disappointment, and eventually, shades of empathy. Gaksital is a show that manages to take a political context and ground it in the personal experience and emotion of our characters, and then by extension, help us to care about that political context in a way more visceral that I expected. I found Gaksital intense, gripping, and gut-wrenching in some of the best ways.

The zombies aren’t actually that scary. Show isn’t gratuitous with the zombie scenes or the blood, which I think is a big plus. One of the things that I think makes the zombies different from zombies in other shows, is that the zombies here are portrayed as patients infected by a mysterious disease, rather than undead monsters. 2. 1. This is not primarily a romance. What I mean is, yes, there is an OTP, and there are a few lovelines in this story, but aside from that, this is also a wuxia, with lots of action in the way of a main mission, and the many battles surrounding it.
