After some helpful feedback, this is my 2nd attempt at a tutorial for installing mods for Valheim, installing mods manually, and a brief example on troublesh...had this same problem, had to to through files, open windows and search %appdata% in your files, and then you should see 2 folders with r2modman in the name, I had to delete both folders then reopen it.
