Personally, I don't so much enjoy being so far out in small boats -- just pushing the odds a little to far and its not really necessary for eating fish.

It is a very nice marina with a pool, clean showers etc. Very short ride to Smith Island approx 25 - 35 minutes. Plenty of great fishing in Tangier sound (I can even give you a couple places that yield lots of spot).

Most guys used 30 lb mono in spring / summer - then put on 30lb Monel for late fall / winter. It's a good reel for spring - I'd stick with lighter lures - up to say 10 ozs. Not sure it will handle big umbrellas.
