(And I personally prefer WICO to TCO - I used TCO for a while and honestly didn't really like it - but if you think TCO is better, then good for you.) true.

Secondly, load everything in SSEedit and find the npcs that are getting grey face in Skyrim.esm or maybe one of the WICO plugins inside the non-player character section, and see which mod overwrites them. It is most likely one mod thats conflicting with WICO, which is loaded after. Might be one of the armor mods.
